Abstract: Rehabilitation, reconstruction and sustainable recovery of natural disasters such as flood and bushfire refer to quick and cost effective yet technical measures to rebuild essential infrastructure and services destroyed or made non-operational by a disaster, which also reduces or eliminates the risk of potential damages in future disasters. The Engineering solutions for natural disasters include sustainable engineering solutions for quick and economical yet technical and durable rehabilitation and repair of the damages and failures from natural disaster, as well as resilient infrastructures that can withstand and manage/prevent natural disasters such as flood and bush fire. This paper will cover the sustainable solutions to repair damages from natural disasters including shallow plane slope failure repair, major slope failure repair, and pavement failure repair. The paper goes through sustainability criteria in geotechnical and pavement engineering and provides technical solutions to the above mentioned failures separately along with sustainability comparison between traditional and new solutions, and local case studies and examples.
