| Abstract: | Ipswich City Council has improved its capability in the delivery of its capital program by establishing and leveraging the insights obtained from Master Schedule. This is critical for the community given the councils high rate of growth and ongoing need for new upgraded and rehabilitated infrastructure. Creation of the Master Schedule utilized Primavera P6 to generate data and Power BI for reporting to key stakeholders, in a way that greatly enhances the accessibility of the information. The Senior Management Team, as key decision makers, are able to identify risks in delivery of projects in advance to proactively take action to mitigate the risks of non-delivery. This became possible by using the risk analysis report created from the Master Schedule. The project team leads use lookahead reports from the Master Schedule to manage the workload of their team members. Additionally, the Master Schedule reduces the chance of miscommunication within project teams by having a central data base. Finally, the access to this information is widely accessible across council. Delivery of the Capital Program is a core responsibility of council, and the approach and benefits are an opportunity for other local governments to consider. The Master Schedule helped the city deliver a record $131m worth of capital infrastructure. |
