Abstract: Building on the momentum of their successful 2021 Research Project into Automated Road Asset Condition Assessment for Maintenance Management of Sealed Road Networks, the Queensland AI Technical Working Group has continued to progress its work in Stage 2. With the clear mission to influence the direction of using Artificial Intelligence technology for sealed road maintenance in Local Government, the Working Group made up of 10 councils has achieved positive outcomes from trial projects undertaken this year. This presentation will report on the major outcomes to date, including: • The identified reliability of autonomously collected sealed road safety defects using AI; • How that data can be utilised to efficiently program works; and • How the data can be spatially presented to understand current condition of road network. It is an exciting glimpse into the future of Sealed Road Maintenance and the practical efficiencies and cost savings associated with automation technology.
