Abstract

Queensland has a network of world-class airport, including four international airports and 14 regional hubs. Most of our best destinations are within easy reach of these airports and getting there caters for any budget. In addition to the larger airports, there are a network of regional aerodromes that are critical to the efficiency of local productivity and improve safety by connecting communities with essential services. JJ Ryan Consulting (JJR) previously developed a Regional Airport Plan for the Queensland Outback Regional Road & Transport Group and has been involved in the planning, development, construction and asset management from international airports to outback strips. The typical types of general aviation (GA), emergency / Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS), charter services and Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) users operating at the Regions. It is important that airports have a baseline plan to ensure a consistent approach is applied in the management, maintenance and renewal of aerodromes, particularly for Council owned and operated aerodromes.
