Success in asset management is knowing your assets, what is needed for them to remain serviceable, minimising the whole of life cost and getting enough money to do it. This presentation will outline the range of assets types typically managed by Councils and what information is needed in the system to do this well. Taking this a step further the way asset types help influence priorities will be discussed and how important the organisation structure and good governance is in working hand in hand with good asset management. Using roads as an example several case studies will be shared to demonstrate the challenges facing decision makers no matter how good the information is that is presented.en_US
