| Abstract: | Risk of excavation activities threatens all kinds of land development. This risk can be readily reduced by rapid and accurate mapping of underground assets. Whenever ground is broken a rapid utility clearance study should be completed. Modern detection technologies focus on the interface presented to the user and process and enhance the measured data to provide the use with the best indication of the location and nature of subsurface assets. Government authorities are most likely to see the most benefit through the application of both Electromagnetic Locating (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The service delivery is very flexible due to the simplified yet repeatable workflows made possible by wireless communications. We will show how various wireless technologies and advanced machine learning can assist the rapid mapping of underground utilities. |
