Abstract: The Queensland building and construction landscape is continuously changing with new legislative reforms being enacted over the past year. In addition to the requirements contained in the Professional Engineers Act, the Queensland Government has introduced significant penalties that will be enforced under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act and the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act for non-compliance. This paper will identify key areas of legislative consideration for Engineers and local government authorities who are undertaking building and construction works in Queensland. Matt will provide tips and traps so that the legislative regime in Queensland can be navigated by those undertaking projects.
