From 3D models bringing new buildings to life to increased use of satellites that pinpoint an asset’s location to a single centimetre, technology is transforming how industries use geospatial information every day. Through key enablers like the 3D Qld Roadmap and tools such as the new Queensland Globe, Queensland is at the forefront of this paradigm shift. Department of Natural Resources and Mines Geodesy & Positioning Manager, Matt Higgins, will explore some of the major positioning trends influencing the infrastructure sector. Matt will also outline the Department’s planned transformation of Queensland’s cadastral and geodetic systems, which will provide a platform to support these trends, and expand on the modernisation of the national datum and coordinate system, which is at the heart of the ability to operate in a 3D environment.en_US
