dc.description.abstractDalby Regional Saleyards @ Western Downs hosts the largest same-day prime and store cattle sale in the country and is the second largest cattle selling centre in Australia with 236,159 cattle sold in 2014 / 2015. Situated at the intersection of the Warrego, Bunya and Moonie Highways, Dalby is strategically positioned in proximity to feed-on properties, feedlots and meatworks. Founded in 1940 throughput of cattle has significantly increased over time with 350 head sold in the first sale and in 2014 / 15 236,000 head were sold with an average of 4,500 per week. This saw a profit to Council in 14/15 of $1,021,343 and an economic benefit to the community of $165,279,851.en_US
